Can I run a projector outside and have the sound come out outdoor speakers?

I have outdoor speakers that run to my stereo receiver. Can i show a movie outside using a projector and have the sound come through those speakers? or do i have to have some other kind of speakers attached to the projector? i guess i’d be using a DVD player with the projector.
